Long Term Care
Aspen Care provides long-term care services to Calgarians across the city. Under the category of continuing care, long-term care accommodates patients with complex medical needs who are unable to remain safely at home or in supportive living accommodations alone. Long-term care services help meet both the medical and non-medical needs of people with chronic illnesses or disabilities due to aging.
Long-term care is provided at home, within nursing homes, and auxiliary hospitals, some of which may be referred to as “long-term care facilities”. These care facilities are designed for patients who suffer from complex, unpredictable medical needs. These individuals also require 24-hour onsite nursing and treatment.
Aspen Care provides long-term care services by accommodating patients with their medical needs at their designated care facility, or private residence. Our team of Licensed Practical Nurses and trained professionals assist clients with their medical and non-medical programs. They also assist with daily care and with leisure and recreational activities to increase their quality of life. Long term care is focused on individualized care programs that promote independence, maximize quality of life, and meet patients' needs over a long period of time.
According to Alberta Health, long term care may be right for patients who have:
Serious changes in health status requiring immediate health professional assessment
A need for medication management and other treatments
Conditions requiring the continued presence of an LPN and the consultative availability of rehabilitation or dietary professionals
Unpredictable or unstable behaviour that places the individual or others at risk
Complex end of life care needs
If you or a loved one requires long-term care, or if you require more information regarding this form of continuing care, please contact Aspen Care. Our staff are always willing to provide you with any information you require and guide you in the right direction.
